Service Mapping

Service mapping is the process of creating a detailed map of all the utilities and services that are present beneath the ground and where possible, their depth. This is a crucial step that needs to be taken before any construction or excavation project, as it allows you to avoid damaging vital infrastructure.

Before you begin your project, we will lodge a DBYD request on your behalf and we will use the maps as a guide to correctly pinpoint your cables or pipes. We use specialist equipment and information to determine the location of various utilities, including fibre optic cables, telecommunications services, electricity services, sewer and water mains. This information is essential for ensuring the safety of your project, as well as avoiding costly repairs should damage occur.

Aside from the dangers involved with breaking or tampering with these utilities, there may also be financial repercussions should you or your contractors result in damage that is found to be caused in whole or in part by negligence.

Residential Locating Services

Before starting any digging project on your property, it’s important to lodge a Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) enquiry. This will help avoid any possible damage to infrastructure assets that may be present on your property. Here at Australian Underground Search, we’re happy to lodge a DBYD enquiry on your behalf.

However, it’s essential to keep in mind that DBYD plans only indicate the presence of infrastructure assets. They do not pinpoint the exact location of the asset. For this reason, we also offer service mapping for residential properties. Service mapping involves sending a technician to your property to locate and mark the precise location of any infrastructure assets that may be present. If you’re planning a major digging project, service mapping is essential to ensure that you avoid any damage to underground infrastructure.
